Reddit communities will go dark to protest the threat to third-party apps:
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed. Some of Reddit’s biggest communities including r/videos, r/reactiongifs, r/earthporn, and r/lifeprotips are planning to set themselves to private over new pricing for third-party app developers to access the site’s APIs. The protest comes after the developers of several third-party Reddit apps have said the future of their services have been threatened by the company’s new pricing.
YouTube is rolling back its election misinformation rules
YouTube will no longer remove content that “advances false claims that widespread fraud, errors, or glitches occurred in the 2020 and other past U.S. Presidential elections.” Alphabets video sharing unit YouTube announced in a blog that it will no longer remove content containing false claims about U.S. presidential election in 2020 and further.
Nora Benavidez, a representative from the nonpartisan organization Free Press, took to Twitter to announce that YouTube “is dead wrong in asserting that removing false election content curtails political speech w/o meaningfully reducing real-world harms.”
This can lead to the spreading of misleading information among users and YouTube is already facing criticism from U.S.-based media groups for making this move
SEC sues Binance and its CEO:
The Securities and Exchange Commission filed 13 charges against Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, and its co-founder Changpeng Zhao, alleging that both comingled billions of dollars worth of user funds and sent them to a European company controlled by Zhao. One senior executive allegedly told a compliance officer that the company was operating as a “f---ing unlicensed securities exchange in the USA bro.”
Two successive Binance.US CEOs expressed deep concern over Zhao’s level of control, according to the SEC. Both testified before federal regulators: Neither was named, but its first and second chief executives were Catherine Coley and Brian Brooks. Zhao has dismissed the allegations on Twitter.
Microsoft will end support for Cortana on Windows soon:
Although the support will be available in Outlook, Teams, Teams display, and Teams rooms. Cortana will not be supported in Windows as a standalone app. Microsoft suggests instead of using Cortana, you can use its voice capability using different tools like:

Europe startups foresee a downfall in funding:
Various U.S. venture capital investors have funded European startups for a long time now. This drop in funding follows a brutal year for the tech industry in Europe. Investment for private tech startups in Europe declined 22% to $83 billion in 2022 from $106 billion in 2021, Atomico, a Venture capital firm.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been one of the factors for tech company’s share seeing the bear market. These companies have been pushed to prioritize profitability over growth at all costs! Layoffs have also plagued the industry. In the first quarter, there were 11,100 layoffs in Europe, according to Atomico, accounting for about 6% of the global tech industry, which laid off 185,000 members of staff.
